Steve said... Let's face it there are not many trains operating on New Zealand's railways but of those that do this is worth seeing. Lots of "oh my gosh, or cor wow, look at that"! Incredible views and admiration for the engineers who built it and keep it open.
There is still quite a bit of railway infrastructure in NZ but passenger trains are about as rare as the Kakapo. NZ really ought to use its railway network more and get us away from our cars and aircraft.
By the way the Dunedin station building is impressive; even if there are only two trains that operate from it!
